i-PROGNOSIS is a multiscope project that its main objectives revolve around the development of new detection methods and interventions for Parkinson’s, but, also, expand to the societal level.

Detailed objectives


Development of the i-PROGNOSIS ecosystem that will identify the risk of healthy older adults (50+) developing Parkinson’s Disease


Large-scale, unobtrusive, behavioural data collection based on: i) older adults’ natural and every day interaction with smart devices and ii) fully guided and controlled testing scenarios


Dynamic monitoring of older adults’s behavioural change based on the above data


Anonymised and secured Cloud-based storage of the captured behavioural data and efficient analysis through modern techniques (i.e. big data analytics and machine-learning) for the development of Information Technology (IT)-based novel early Parkinson’s Disease diagnostic tests


Design and implementation of IT-based supportive interventions towards countering the most frequent Parkinson’s related risks, i.e. frailty, falls and depression


Creation of an information-driven i-PROGNOSIS platform where professionals (Parkinson’s Disease experts) will collaborate with older adults towards optimisation of older adults’ quality of life


Realisation of the i-PROGNOSIS platform with an open, service-oriented and scalable architecture in order to facilitate the integration of new functionalities and services


Promotion of early Parkinson’s Disease detection and related risks awareness via large-scale dissemination activities and social intervention movements


Modelling of the elderlies’ adherence to lifestyle change programs (supportive interventions) and the resultant health outcomes


Realisation of extensive socio-economic analysis in order to inform all the relevant stakeholders of the estimated merits of i-PROGNOSIS initiative
